Azzurro Studio

The collective of video artists working with theatre performances and films was founded in 1982 in Milan by Paolo Rosa (art and film), Fabio Cirifino (photography) and Leonardo Sangiorgi (graphics and animation). In 1995, they were joined by Stefano Roveda (interactive systems). From then on they started creating interactive environments, which they call 'ambienti sensibili', with sound and projected images, of which Tavoli (perché queste mani mi toccano?) is an example.

For over thirty years, Studio Azzurro has experimented with projections, video, sensitive and interactive environments, theatrical performances and films. In addition to experimental work, the group’s activities have also been involved with more formative experiences such as the designing of museums and theme exhibitions. In all cases, Studio Azzurro has taken care to create environments that require an active participation of the spectator who becomes a part of the narrative. In every work the viewer/participant becomes aware of a continuous shift between the virtual and the real.

The work of Studio Azzurro in theatres, museums and at festivals has been shown throughout the world.

Studio Azzurro is in Milan.
