What is the meaning of performance nowadays? Is it really a new form of artistic expression or maybe just a continuation of the old desire to make the life a work of art and the art way of life? Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, the Greek tragedie and the presocratic philosophers (especially Heraklite) lent a strong energy to the performers such as Joseph Beuys or Marina Abramović. During his lecture Davvetas – professor at the University of Paris, colaborator of such artists as Beuys, Andy Warhol, Cy Twombly, André Masson – wants to trace through the history of art the desire to make it possible for everybody to feel as an artist and at the same time to make the art work to be piece of life. Oscar Wilde said that „it is not the art who imitates life but the life who imitates art”. Through the works of Beuys and Abramović Davvetas is going to reflect on the amounts of invention that human being shows as he/she pursues inner voice and… the cosmic energy.
