2013 - KONRAD SMOLEŃSKI, S.T.R.H. 21 JUNE – 18 AUGUST 2013
ul. Jaskółcza 1, GDAŃSK - DOLNE MIASTO

Opening: 21 June, 6 p.m.
Dismantling: 19 August, 6 pm

curated by: Kamila Wielebska

S.T.R.H. (Stones That Rest Heavily) is a solo exhibition of the work of Konrad Smoleński, one of the most interesting Polish artists of the young generation, who will be representing Poland at the 55th Venice Biennale in 2013 with a solo exhibition at the Polish Pavilion.
This sound installation, located in the biggest exhibition space at the Laznia Centre for Contemporary Art, makes contact with artwork a total experience for the senses, engaging not only sight and hearing, but the viewer’s entire body, making it an almost physical experience. The installation consists of large-scale objects generating low-fi sound, ranging from almost inaudible acoustic pressures to strong physical vibrations (of the viewer’s body and walls). The sound then suddenly falls until it disappears completely.

Art Line continues until March 31 next year. The Steering Committee of the Programme South Baltic Cross Border Co-operation has approved an extension.

The decision was based on conclusions from the project assessment, such as:

“The project enhances the dissemination of the already achieved results, and improves their durability. It is valuable contribution to the South Baltic area in the context of enriching the cross-border cultural arena. The proposed activities, in majority, are innovative, have logic of intervention, and positively impact the situation of the target group.
The Art Line project is valuable for the Programme area and symbolizes good practice example in terms of management, partnership and progress of implementation. The project is represented by the small institutions with a large dedication to the development of the culture/art field in the Programme regions. Within the project lifetime high ambition level and commitment are observed by the JTS, resulted in the appointment to the Flagship project for the EUSBSR. Following the assessment criteria the proposed extension should be considered as deserved prolongation, chance to reinforce impact of activities and networks development for durability in the future.” Read more

Participants: children and teens
Sign-up: basia.secke@gmail.com

Day Camp at LKW Gallery combines a series of interdisciplinary educational and artistic activities carried out in the outdoor studio of the LKW Gallery – a lorry nestled under a bridge in Lower Town. The project will allow local residents to spend their free time actively and creatively during the summer holidays. The workshops and artistic events accompanying the day camps seek to motivate participants to actively participate in changing the image of the district, which is neglected and at risk of becoming a zone of exclusion. These activities at the LKW Gallery this year will take the form of day camps. For two weeks, participants will reflect on answers to the question: If you could, what would you like to change or create in Lower Town? Read more
