Hanna Shumska about her artistic practice:
“In my artistic practice, I work with image and space, combining new media with my own drawings, painting, photography and archival materials. I am interested in the mutual transformation and penetration of what is real and illusory, the deconstruction of meanings and stereotypes shaped in the media and meta-narratives. It is essential for my practice to transfer digital images into a new architectural and historical context of the exhibition space using artistic methods and strategies. I reflect on the problems of the modern hybrid-digital world, full of pseudo facts and advertisements, images and things, in which trust, real facts, interpersonal relationships and empathy often lose their meaning. In my opinion, only the evidences of human presence can change the dominating narratives and meanings, and socio-political issues are directly related to our everyday private lives.”
