In my creative practice, I am inspired by nature, including human nature and its internal dilemmas. I particularly appreciate trees and their mysteries. I look for spirituality in humans and everything that surrounds us – in nature as a whole. I use the term ‘corpse’ to denote everything that was once alive. I notice that we may use the ‘corpses’ of other organisms, including plants, to survive. Giving up their use means giving up our lives.
The main aim of Autopsy is to show my thought and emotional process concerning living organisms. Trees are closest to my heart, so I chose to make them the focus of my work. I believe trees deserve the same recognition as people. The installation shows the tree as equal to the human. To obtain the desired effect, I place the tree trunk on an autopsy table, calling it the ‘corpse of a tree’. I try to make viewers sensitive to the beauty and value of nature and life that I perceive in everything natural.
