According to a saying, hard work brings a profit. Yet it is mistaken to think that this sentence explains how the pioneers of capitalism came up with their wealth – merchants, enterpreneurs and conquerors who by the end of the 15th century started the process of the unlimited accumulation of capital. The roots of the system which so disgracefully rules our world grow deeper into gloomier and less glorious ground...
Jan Sowa is an essayist. He studied Polish language, psychology and philosophy at Jagiellonian University in Cracow. Published in “Lampa”, “Krytyka Polityczna”, “Obywatel” and “Ha!art”. Since 1999 editor of the cultural studies section of “Ha!art”. Worked as journalist in Cracow division of Polish Radio. Author of a collection of essays “Sezon w teatrze lalek” [“A season in the theatre of puppets”]. Actively participates in the antiglobalist movement.
