This Fall, the selected via open call artist duo Camille Zisswiller and Nicolas Lefebvre will conduct their residency at LAZNIA CCA, in the frames of the annual Gdańsk – Strasbourg exchange program.
Camille Zisswiller and Nicolas Lefebvre are a duo of French visual artists. They are graduates of the École du Louvre in Paris, HEAR Strasbourg, La Cambre in Brussels and have recently been invited to exhibit and develop their artwork in France and abroad; at Le Fresnoy-Studio national des arts contemporains, the Xu Yuan Center Beijing, the Venice Architecture Biennale. Their experimental works have been selected for festivals such as the Festival des Cinémas Différents et Expérimentaux de Paris or the Imagine Science Film Festival in New York.
Camille Zisswiller and Nicolas Lefebvre about their residency plans in Gdańsk:
“Through an expanded visual practice, we are questioning the ways in which individuals invest real or fictitious environments. Today, we need to imagine alternative languages and games to explore the more-than-human entanglements. The image is an exciting space in which to experiment with these invisible connections.
During our stay in Gdansk, we intend to develop this research through a speculative approach to the Baltic Sea. We will be looking "underneath", at these underwater forces at work. We will use various video and sound protocols to listen to the sea, in search of a primordial sound. How can we access this language? An investigation that unfolds at the intersection of oceanography and atmospheristic narrative.”
