Social morals change drastically through the ever-growing consumerism and mass-media culture. Thus, is love becoming a social product and the feeling itself becomes nothing more than a social construct? Or the opposite, the feeling of love is connected to the social control that is a symbolic communication code?
Jana Shostak was born in Grodno in the same year that Nelson Mandela received a Nobel Peace Prize. She completed her undergraduate studies at the Intermedia Department of Krakow’s Academy of Fine Arts. She is currently working towards her Master degree at the Media Art Department of Warsaw’s Academy of Fine Arts, in studio’s of prof.Mirosław Bałka and prof.Prot Jarnuszkiewicz. In 2016, she received Młode Wilki Grand Prix. In 2015, she set the Polish Guiness World Record. She has a certificate of being a volunteer for World Youth Days in 2016. In her work, she likes to hack into alien spaces. Among others, she has participated in exhibitions including Manifesta Art Biennale in Zurich; Sziget Festival, Budapest; Independent Art Fair, Stockholm; Pastificio Cerere, Rome; Manggha Kraków; Biennale Wro, Wrocław; Bank PKO, Warszawa; Zamek Cultural Centre, Poznań; NCAD, Dublin; Aesthetic&Bias, Jerusalem.
