The Zbigniew Herbert Foundation invited the artist to create a work that would promote the poet’s oeuvre. In response, he attempted to convince one of the girls from an adult webcam site to read Herbert’s poem Just Autumn. The “provocation” took place during a public broadcast watched by over 2000 viewers at the time, and the artist engaged in the dialogue using a free, public chatroom.
Piotr Urbaniec was born in Krakow in 1992. He completed a BA programme at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow. He is currently studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. His works have been shown in Poland and abroad, e.g. at the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle, Museum of Modern Art in Warsaw, Dawid Radziszewski Gallery and Roman Susan Chicago. He is the holder of the Young Wolves 2014 main award, a mention of honour at the 2015 In Out festival and made it to the finals of the 2015 Hestia Artistic Journey award.
