The paintings are a personal commentary on the world around me, prompted by observing passing moments, social attitudes, interpersonal relations, emotions, the political situation and our changing climate. The show humans (or the world they leave behind) in a way meant to provoke the viewer and force him to think and act.
Between 18 and 30 June, every two days, the following works will be presented in the window of the LKW Gallery on the following dates:
18.06-20.06
Everything Tastes Better with Coke
The painting offers a tongue-in-cheek view of the artificial and superficial nature of contemporary people. A well marketed product is able to replace everything. In the current situation, the work gains an additional new meaning. By interpreting it literally, it shows mundane problems that take place during lockdown and social restrictions.
21.06-22.06
Calmness
The work shows everyday rituals followed by young people, which – despite their façade – are often superficial and contradictory. Unexpectedly, at a time marked by the pandemic, quarantines and isolation, the portrait became a genuine illustration of domestic situations, where people try to regain their own balance.
23.06-24.06
Plastic Spirit
The portrait tackles the overproduction and thoughtless use of plastics. It shows how difficult it is to give up our habits and comforts even if we are aware of the dangers of plastic.
25.06-26.06
Wałowy Square
The painting shows a genuine building on Wałowy Square in Gdańsk. It is meant to convey the mix of emotions that characterize this place – the unease and awe caused by a contrast between the calm of nature, the beauty of the tenement and the local community that live there. The viewer does not know who the protagonist is and what are her intentions. Is she defending herself or about to launch an attack? Does she need refuge or is she an intruder?
27.06-28.06
Black Flood
Flood is a vision of a future in which human greed led to its own “end of the world”. However, this end only concerns humans. The nature and animals remain intact – life on Earth goes on.
29.06-30.06
Chapel
The painting symbolically documents the protests and public sentiment caused by the political situation of the late 2020.
